LANSING MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Starting Monday, weight restrictions will go into effect in the yearly effort to protect Michigan’s roads beginning in the spring.
The new guidelines are for the state’s trunkline highways, from the Indiana border northward.
Those routes have an I, M, or US designation.
MDOT officials state that the weight restrictions go into effect annually at this time due to the freeze/thaw cycles that Michigan experiences; those cycles leave roads vulnerable to damage from overweight vehicles.
