PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Paw Paw has replaced the bridge to Maple Island on Maple Lake.
The original bridge was built by the Franklin Roosevelt association as a WPA project in the 1930s.
The concrete columns had cracked, the wood had rotted, and the new bridge cost around $770,000.
It was paid for mostly by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and American Rescue Plan Act money.
Village officials say it is the first step toward other upgrades in the future.
