LANSING, MI (WHTC) – The first case stemming from the processing of over 11 thousand untested sexual assault kits found six years ago in a Detroit warehouse has come to the Michigan Attorney General’s office. Bill Schuette has charged Alan Broadnax, now a 48-year-old Detroit man, with raping an unnamed 18-year-old Detroit woman in Oakland County. The state Legislature last year helped fund the testing of those discovered kits that was completed last month. Bills to expand the search for untested kits throughout the rest of Michigan are currently pending in Lansing.
