DEARBORN (WKZO) — Just a few days before the busiest travel holiday of the year, Gas prices have spiked to just a hair under $3 a gallon at many Michigan gas stations.
AAA of Michigan says a record 1.4-million Michiganders will be traveling this weekend, the vast majority of them by private vehicle.
Gasbuddy Analyst Patrick Dehaan is partially blaming the gas distributors, saying they are hiking prices to cover what they are actually paying wholesale, but he is also blaming Greece for the spike.
That country’s financial default has sent a ripple through the world’s markets.
He says the high prices may go down quickly, but the timing seems suspect none the less.
The lesson, always fill up early in the week of a Holiday.
