PARCHMENT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Last week, some schools in Parchment transitioned to virtual learning due to ongoing COVID-19 illnesses.
On Monday, the district announced that Parchment High School will remain in virtual learning until Wednesday, February 2.
“We still have high numbers of staff that are out sick and unable to resume their duties,” officials wrote in a letter. “We are also unable to staff the shortages.”
A decision on when to return will be made Wednesday, and classes may resume on Thursday or Friday depending.
In the meantime, students will follow their normal daily schedule and log in through their Google classrooms every hour for every class.
All students are expected to log into their classes on time, and the following procedures are in place:
- Attendance will be taken each hour.
- Each teacher will have a google link posted.
- Work will be posted in google classroom.
- All students are expected to do their assigned work as normal.
- Some of the teaching staff are out with COVID and will be unable to be present in a Google meet. They will communicate directly with their students to inform them of the expectations for class that day.
- CORE – this is part of the instructional day and attendance will be taken.
Students involved in KAMSC, EMC, EFE, EFA, Dual Enrolled, etc. are expected to continue to attend classes as normal. Transportation for off-campus programming will run as usual.
Athletics and extra-curricular activities will continue to run as normal unless otherwise noted.
All athletes are expected to attend all classes to be able to participate as normal. If an athlete misses a class, they will not be eligible to participate in activities that
day.
Lunch will be available for students to come in and eat in the cafeteria from 11:00 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. Those who attend should only use the athletic entrance to the building.
Students should contact their teachers or the office with any questions.
