LANSING, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan House voted Tuesday approve a proposal that would limit corporations from putting money into political campaigns.
Speaker Matt Hall of Richland says the proposal would prohibit regulated utilities from donating to candidates and political parties..
Hall says there was some bipartisan support 77 representatives voting in favor of the plan.
Despite the vote, the Money Out of Politics proposal is expected to be on the November ballot because state Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks indicated they won’t vote on it.
If lawmakers approve the proposal, it could be amended in future years.
