GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A Michigan State Police trooper was injured and his cruiser was damaged in a crash during a traffic stop on U.S. 131 in Grand Rapids Sunday evening. It happened around 6:30 on a southbound stretch of the freeway between 36th and 44th Streets.
The vehicle that was stopped had pulled into the median. As the Trooper was approaching to ask the driver to move to a safer location, another vehicle came up and struck the patrol car from behind, pushing it into the stopped vehicle.
The Trooper suffered a minor leg injury and is recovering. The drivers of the at-fault vehicle and the vehicle that was pulled over were both not hurt.
