OSHTEMO TOWNSHIP, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office says the gun that went off inside the Oshtemo Township Costco store Sunday was a state-issued service weapon of a Michigan State Police trooper.
She was off-duty at the time and was shot in a hand.
Another person suffered an ankle injury, and a third person fainted during the chaos that ensued.
The trooper was treated and released from a hospital and Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting says the case remains with the sheriff’s department and they will turn it over to his office to decide if any charges will be filed.
The gun was in the woman’s purse when it discharged.
