SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – UPDATE: Investigators in South Haven have determined that the cause of a recent home explosion in South Haven was a gas leak, according to a report from WOOD TV Wednesday.
Late last month, South Haven Area Emergency Services (SHAES) firefighters were called to a home at 70903 Second Avenue at 5:57 p.m. on the report of the explosion, which was said to have been heard up to two miles away.
Two people were injured in the explosion, and one has since died from the incident.
On Wednesday, investigators told WOOD TV that the cause has since been determined to be a propane gas leak, which started outside and moved to the basement.
It is unknown how the gas was ignited.
