KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Kalamazoo County board of commissioners has approved funding for a 444-unit affordable housing and retail development for Oshtemo Township.
It will be built along West Main Street across from the headquarters of Advia Credit Union.
Ferlito Construction of Detroit requested the commission’s support for funding the project using tax increment financing, or TIF, under the state’s Brownfield Redevelopment Financing Act.
The site is currently over 48-acres of vacant land and the housing will be a mix of duplexes for sale and multi-family homes for rent along with 50,000-square-feet of commercial space.
