THREE RIVERS, MI (WNWN) – A 52-year-old St. Joseph County man is $300,000 richer after playing the Michigan Lottery’s Mystery Prize Cashword instant game.
The lucky player, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at the Hoffman Street Grocery at 115 West Hoffman Street in Three Rivers.
“I stopped to pick up a few things and went by the Lottery counter while I was there,” said the player. “As I was standing there, the clerk suggested I play the Mystery Prize Cashword game. I told her I don’t play often, and I wasn’t too sure about that type of ticket. She told me they were pretty simple to play and had been lucky lately, so I decided to buy two. The first one turned out to be a $300,000 winner.”
The winning player visited Lottery headquarters to claim his prize. With his winnings, he plans to pay off his home, and then help family members in need.
It’s not the first time a large amount of money has been won after a Michigan Lottery ticket was purchased in Three Rivers. Julie Leach of Three Rivers won a $310 million Powerball jackpot in October of 2015. She bought her winning ticket at the West Shell gas station in Three Rivers.
A St. Joseph County woman was a big winner in the Michigan Lottery’s Millionaire Maker instant game in April of 2019. She bought her ticket at Harding’s Market on West Michigan Avenue in Three Rivers.
