PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — Two suspects are in custody after a meth bust that occurred in Paw Paw Wednesday.
The Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit conducted an investigation into illegal manufacturing of methamphetamine, which indicated that a lab may be present at the suspect residence.
Detectives went to the residence at 11:00 a.m., where they made contact with a 26-year-old female who was standing in the driveway. The residence was in the 38000 Block of Paw Paw Road.
Detectives spoke with her for several minutes and were able to draft a search warrant. After the search warrant was obtained, the 48-year-old male suspect arrived on scene and started talking with detectives.
Detectives told him that a search warrant was obtained for his house, which is when he became visibly upset.
Inside the house, detectives located a small amount of user methamphetamine. A search of the garage revealed several older meth labs and one active meth lab. There were other methamphetamine components inside of the garage that deputies and meth lab responders disposed of.
Once this investigation is complete, a report will be sent to the Van Buren County Prosecutor for charges on both the male and female.
They are seeking clearance on the following charges:
- Operating and maintaining a meth lab
- Possession of meth
- Maintaining a drug house
