SOUTH HAVEN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — The Van Buren County Sheriff’s office is reporting that one man has been arrested on drug charges following a pursuit in South Haven.
The arrest comes as the result of a three-month investigation, during which officers learned the suspect was on parole for Delivery of Cocaine. He was still selling crack cocaine around the city of South Haven and South Haven Township.
On Thursday, October 8, South Haven Police Chief Natalie Thompson attempted to make a traffic stop on the 38-year-old male in the 16000 block of M-140 when he pulled over and got out and ran with South Haven Police and Narcotics Detectives in pursuit.
The suspect then ran into a house on M-140 with several unsuspected people inside, including the homeowner. The homeowner said she did not know this man, and the house he chose to run through was selected at random.
Chief Thompson ran through the house and chased him out the back door, and he was tackled in the front yard by undercover detectives.
The suspect was lodged at the Van Buren County jail, where he will await charges for Delivery of Crack Cocaine, Resisting arrest and a parole violation.
This is only the latest reported drug busts to occur in the South Haven area. Later that same day, a 41-year-old suspect was arrest on drug trafficking charges after an investigation.
It also comes after a bust last week, during which a 22-year-old South Haven man was arrested on cocaine-related charges.
