LANSING (WKZO-AM) — Friday is National Wear Red Day.
The event is taking place in an effort to spark conversations about the dangers of heart disease, particularly in women. February, in particular, is Heart Month.
State Sen. Tonya Schuitmaker, R-Lawton, says that, over the past 10 years, the “Go Red for Women” movement has saved an estimated 600,000 lives. That’s why she’s sponsored a resolution declaring Feb. 5 Wear Red Day in Michigan, to raise awareness about the dangers of heart disease and to get the message out that it can be prevented.
