DETROIT (WKZO) — The American Civil Liberties Union of Michigan is filing a federal lawsuit against the group that runs Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit. The suit was filed Wednesday and alleges the Detroit 300 Conservancy, which runs the park, violated the free speech of two groups of marchers who were not allowed in the park.
According to the lawsuit, in February 2014, members of Moratorium Now!, a group opposing Detroit’s bankruptcy, were asked to leave the park and the same thing happened to members of Women in Black-Detroit in June of 2013 as they held a silent protest against violence.
