ST. JOSEPH COUNTY (WKZO) — Some Cities have declared snow emergencies, and Cass and St. Joseph Counties have gone one step further.
The snow was the deepest along the Indiana border. St. Joseph County has declared a “local snow emergency” prohibiting all non-essential travel on County Roads until 4 p.m. this afternoon.
Only Michigan trunklines can be used until then. Cass County pulled their plow trucks off the road last evening because it was too dangerous for the drivers.
The County Sheriff telling everyone to stay off the roads unless they absolutely had to travel.
The plow trucks in Cass County were deployed earlier this morning to try and clear main-roads, but sideroads are another story.
The anow emergencies in Battle Creek, Sturgis, Albion and Three Rivers mean that anyone who left their car parked on the streets obstructing plowing will be ticketed and possibly towed, if they haven’t already.Those communities have also closed their City Halls today. Only essential personnel will be required to report to work.
