NEW YORK, NY (WTVB) – The NFL and the NFLPA agreed to terms on safety provisions regarding COVID-19, a major step forward in making the 2020 season realistic despite the global pandemic. Later in the day, the league’s owners voted to ratify the changes to the collective bargaining agreement 29-3.
The players’ union announced the agreement, which earlier passed a vote in a meeting with the league’s executive committee.
The agreement should allow teams to begin training camps by the end of the month, as scheduled, and includes new roster rules and economic provisions, along with coronavirus testing protocols and safety measures.
Among the details of the agreement is a “no play, no pay” clause that allows players to opt out of the season but they would not be paid salary or bonuses.
