KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Congressional candidate Sean McCann held a rally in downtown Kalamazoo as the election is now just weeks away.
He says it’s one of the tightest races in the nation right now, according to some national pollsters and pundits.
That’s why he brought Pete Buttigieg, former U.S. Secretary of Transportation, former South Bend mayor, and one of the stars of the Democratic Party to campaign with him.
Senator McCann says young people today are discouraged they can’t afford housing, don’t think Social Security will be there for them, and their quality of life will be worse than their parents.
McCann says his opponent, Congressman Bill Huizenga, is everything that is wrong with politics right now, increasing his personal wealth five-times over since he has been in office.
Buttigieg says the current party in power has broken every one of their promises to lower costs, stay out of wars, and end corruption in Washington.
He says its time things got back to normal, to make the American Dream obtainable again and not have the news raise blood pressures.
About 300 turned out for the afternoon rally at the old First Baptist Church on West Michigan Avenue.
Huizenga responded by saying “nothing says out of touch” like McCann bringing Buttigieg in to campaign with him.
The Cook Political Report recently moved the Fourth District U.S. House race to a toss-up from leaning Republican.
