KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – If you are looking for a scary thing to celebrate and you just can’t wait until Halloween, Kalamazoo City Utilities wants you to imagine what you would do on a day without water.
Access may be as easy as turning a tap, but it’s becoming tougher all the time with new pollutants, climate change, aging infrastructure and even cyber-attacks and new data center threatening water supplies nationwide.
The Kalamazoo City Commission has declared today, Thursday, October 15th, Imagine a Day Without Water Day.
Commissioner Jae Slaby read from the proclamation.
It stated such a calamity would threaten lives and more.
Kalamazoo Utilities Director James Baker says they are working hard at it every day.
The proclamation says it’s not only a question of convenience, but good hygiene, and even economic security for a community to have a reliable source of water.
