PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — A teen is being formally charged for making last week’s threat against Portage Northern High School.
The 17-year-old girl was arraigned on Friday on one count of intentional threat of violence to school employees/students and was released on a $500 bond.
She was arrested after making the social media threat just after midnight on Tuesday, prompting the entire Portage northern campus to close that morning.
Authorities searched the student’s home and did not locate any weapons or any indication that she planned on carrying out the threat, so it was deemed not credible.
The Kalamazoo County Prosecutor’s office is still reviewing charges for the two other teens arrested for making threats against Loy Norrix High School.
Prosecutor Jeff Getting says it took them less than 48 hours to track down all 3-perpetrators. He praised the local police departments as well as the experts for the social media websites for their help in the extensive investigation.
