PORTAGE, MI — (WKZO AM/FM) — Four schools are closed in Portage due to a threat.
School officials say Portage Northern High School, Portage North Middle School, Community High School, and Curious Kids at Milham will all be closed Tuesday November 12th as a precaution.
A statement on their website reads:
“In the overnight hours, Portage Public Schools received information about a threat to due harm to students at Northern High School. We are working with authorities to determine the credibility of this threat. In the meantime we are choosing to use an abundance of caution and will be closing the entire Northern campus for the day while police continue to investigate. This includes Northern High School, North Middle School, Community High and Curious Kids childcare on the Milham campus.”
This comes just a day after 4 schools in Kalamazoo had the day off after a threat surfaced on social media. Police believe that threat was not credible but they are still investigating.
No other details on the Portage incident has been released at this time.
