PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Kim Phillips, Director of Senior Citizen Services for the City of Portage, has been recognized as a Trailblazer in Aging by the National Council on Aging (NCOA) at the 2026 Age+Action Conference, a national gathering focused on advancing innovative programs and services that support older adults.

City officials says award honor individuals and organizations across the country who are making a meaningful impact in the field of aging services. Honorees are selected for their leadership, innovation, and commitment to improving the lives of older adults.
In her role as Director of Senior Citizen Services, Phillips oversees programming and services that support older adults at the Portage Zhang Senior Center, which city officials say helps ensure access to opportunities that promote independence, connection, and overall well-being.
The National Council on Aging is called the nation’s leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and economic security of older Americans through advocacy, programs, and partnerships nationwide.
