CASS COUNTY (WKZO) — 20-year-old Caleb G-Joseph-Glenn Jones got a rude awakening after he took a nap very early Saturday morning at about 1 a.m.
He had only himself to blame because, Jones was behind the wheel of a car traveling west on M-62 when he dozed off, crashed through a guardrail, rolled down an embankment and made a splash landing in the Dowagiac Mill Pond.
He managed to escape the submerged vehicle through the sunroof and swim to shore on his own.
He is being treated for injuries at Borgess Lee Memorial Hospital in Dowagiac.
Cass County Deputies say he was wearing his seat belt and alcohol was not a factor.
