HUDSONVILLE, MI (WHTC-AM/FM) – Some state tax relief for those who are on the “front lines” of handling the COVID 19 may be coming.
Senate Bill 900 has been introduced that would give medical professional and first responders a four-month Michigan income tax holiday. The Michigan Helping Emergency Responders Overcome Emergency Situations Act of 2020 was modeled by state Senator Roger Victory along the lines of a similar federal bill introduced by Congressman Bill Huizenga of Zeeland.
In a statement, the first-term Republican legislator from Hudsonville said, “First responders and health care professionals across our state are serving on the front lines to protect Michigan families in the fight against the coronavirus. The MiHEROES Act would be a way for the good people of Michigan to say thank you to these real-life heroes for their courage, care and dedication in the face of this unprecedented public health challenge.”
Victory’s bill has been referred to the Senate Finance Committee.
