EAST LANSING, MI — East Lansing Police Chief Kim Johnson is on paid administrative leave, according to media partner 6 News in Lansing.
City Manager Robert Belleman confirmed to the Lansing TV outlet that Chief Johnson is on paid administrative leave while the city attorney conducts an internal investigation into a internal complaint.
“Deputy Chief Pride and Deputy Chief Brown are responsible for managing the East Lansing Police Department at this time. I am unable to comment further on the investigation, Bellman said in an email to 6 News.
Johnson was hired to the position in 2020. He is the city’s second Black chief of police. Before becoming chief, Johnson served 30 years with the East Lansing Police Department.
