KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Today is a big day for young parents in Kalamazoo, and children getting ready to start their educational careers.
Orientation sessions will be held at all 17 elementary schools in the district for kindergarteners and preschoolers who plan to start school this fall.
Superintendent Darrin Slade says families are invited to register, meet staff, tour schools and learn about the programs offered in Kalamazoo, including full-day kindergarten.
“We have one of the best PEEP programs in the area to me, so please come out and take part in that,” says Slade.
The sessions are scheduled to begin at 9:30 this morning and 5:30 this afternoon.
Students are initially assigned to schools nearest their home address.
