DIMONDALE, MI — Capt. James F. Grady II was promoted Thursday to the rank of colonel to run the Michigan State Police. His appointment still needs the final consent of the Michigan Senate.
Grady will replace Col. Joe Gasper, who announced his retirement earlier this year.
“After 25 years, he has earned the respect of troopers across the department and community leaders throughout the state, including in southeast Michigan where he spent the majority of his service,” Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer said of Grady in a statement.
Grady joined the state police agency in 1998 and was promoted up to detective within several southeast Michigan posts, according to a press release.
