DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Terrific goaltending helped push the New Jersey Devils past the Red Wings 5-1 in Detroit.
Vitek Vanecek stopped 32-of-33 shots, with the only blemish coming on a Red Wings power play goal with just two minutes left in the game.
Dougie Hamilton and Nico Hischier scored first period goals while Michael McLeod, Alexander Holtz and Jack Hughes each lit the lamp in the second. New Jersey improved to 24-11-and-3 and is second in the Metropolitan with 51 points.
Lucas Raymond scored the lone goal for Detroit which fell to 16-13-and-7.
The Red Wings are fifth in the Atlantic with 39 points. They have dropped eight of their last 11.
Detroit will look to bounce back tomorrow when they host Florida.
