PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — An overflow was detected at a sanitary sewer manhole in Portage Thursday afternoon on October 13.
According to a news release from the city, the overflow happened around 3 p.m. in the 5400 block of Meredith Street at the Davis Creek Apartments.
Officials say the overflow was caused by a blockage in the sanitary sewer pipe which was cleared by 6 p.m. with normal flow restored.
Approximately 200 gallons of wastewater was contained within a parking lot and landscaped area at the apartments, and powered lime was spread over the affected areas.
Officials expect no health impacts from the incident.
