GRAND RAPIDS, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Democratic and Republican party tickets in the race for governor are now set.
Democratic nominee Jocelyn Benson has selected state Senate Majority Leader Winnie Brinks of Grand Rapids as her lieutenant governor running mate, saying she wanted a partner who is just as committed as she is to serving voters statewide.
Republican nominee for governor John James selected state Representative Jay DeBoyer of Clay Township as his running mate last week.
If Democrats win the governor’s office in November, it will be the first time voters have elected two women for the governor and lieutenant governor’s office at the same time.
