***UPDATE***
An agreement has been struck between GM and the UAW that averted a possible strike of subsidiary employees at four plants across Michigan, including Lansing Grand River Assembly. The automaker says the new deal still needs worker ratification but that no work stoppages are expected during that process.
LANSING, MI — General Motors Corp. and the United Auto Workers (UAW) have until 10:00 a.m. today to avoid a possible strike by subsidiary employees at four plants in Michigan, including Lansing Grand River Assembly.
A union leader tells the Detroit Free Press if those workers walk off the job, it will impact the factories within hours. The UAW member, speaking anonymously, says the subsidiary employees sequence parts for orders and take them to the assembly lines.
In addition, the Flint Assembly, Orion Assembly, and Factory ZERO would likely shut down if the strike happens.
