PORTAGE, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – As part of the Lovers Lane reconstruction project from East Milham Avenue to East Kilgore Road, a traffic shift on Lovers Lane between I-94 and East Kilgore Road begins Friday, June 17 at 10:00 a.m.
One lane will be open in each direction. At I-94, the northbound lane will be shifted to the west side of the roadway. The southbound lane will remain in the outside curb lane.
This major street project involves replacing 750′ of City of Kalamazoo water main south of East Kilgore Road, sanitary sewer extension north of I-94, barrier-free access at all sidewalk crossings including tactile warning surfaces, pavement milling, and asphalt resurfacing. A single lane in both directions is expected to be open during the project.
The total cost of the project is $1,336,535.
The lane closure of Lovers Lane north of the East Kilgore Road intersection will be removed in the afternoon of Friday, June 17, one week ahead of schedule. The Portage Road closure as part of MDOT’s I-94 interchange project is also anticipated to be removed on Friday, June 17 in the afternoon.
