MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WKZO AM/FM) – The Minnesota Twins beat the Detroit Tigers 5-4 on a wild play in the bottom of the ninth inning last night.
Down by one, Miguel Sano hit a single that would’ve loaded the bases, but Tigers catcher Eric Haase tried to throw out Trevor Larnach at third and threw the ball into the outfield. Larnach scored the tying run on the error, and Gio Urshela came in for the winning run.
Griffin Jax got the win out of the bullpen. Max Kepler had a double, a home run, and three RBI as the Twins won their fifth straight.
Javy Baez hit a go-ahead three-run home run in the top of the eighth in the losing effort, and Gregory Soto was tagged with the loss.
The Tigers have dropped three straight.
Michael Pineda gets the start for the Tigers tonight against his former team while the Twins send Joe Ryan to the mound.
