KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Due to a winter storm projected to start either late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning, Kalamazoo City offices will be closed Wednesday, February 2.
In a Facebook post, city officials confirmed that essential services will still be in place, which includes snow plowing, utilities and public safety services.
On Monday, the National Weather Service (NWS) issued a Winter Storm Warning for the Kalamazoo area, as well as surrounding areas.
That warning is in effect from 2 a.m. Wednesday to 11 p.m. Thursday.
Heavy snow is expected during that time period, with accumulations from 7 to 12 inches.
Travel conditions are expected to be difficult on Wednesday and Thursday.

Elsewhere in Southwest Michigan, St. Joseph County has issued a travel advisory, asking residents to not travel during this time unless absolutely necessary.
