PAW PAW, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Officials with the Michigan State Police (MSP) have announced plans for “Coffee with a Cop” in Paw Paw this month.
The event will include troopers with MSP, deputies from the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Department, and officers from the Paw Paw Police Department.
The purpose of the outreach event is to discuss community issues and build relationships over a cup of coffee.
All community members are invited to attend.
Law enforcement officials provided the following description about the event –
“Coffee with a Cop provides a unique opportunity for community members to ask questions and learn more about the departments’ work in the area. The majority of contacts law enforcement has with the community happen during emergencies or emotional situations. Those situations are not always the most
effective times for relationship building. Some community members may feel that officers are unapproachable on the street. Coffee with a Cop breaks down barriers and allows for relaxed interactions. This program aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.”
The event begins at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 16 at Biggby Coffee, located at 400 S. Kalamazoo Street in Paw Paw.
The event is scheduled to end around 10:00 a.m.
