KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – While construction at the LodgeHouse project is still underway, LIFT Foundation (LIFT) is now accepting applications for its newest development.
Officials say priority will be given to applicants currently experiencing homelessness as waitlists form for the project, which is expected to be move in ready in April.
“It’s never too late to start applying for housing,” Vice President of Lockhart Management & Consulting, LLC Lisa Willcutt said in a statement. “It doesn’t cost you anything but time to get started. We encourage anyone in need of safe, stable housing to apply as soon as possible.”

As residents apply to reside in LodgeHouse, LIFT also continues to seek contributions towards the 60-unit property from the public.
To date, nearly $182,000 of LIFT’s $2.5 million goal has been collected.
“The pandemic has increased costs for everything,” Willcutt said. “The construction costs are so much greater than we expected as a result.”
Once completed, the former Knights Inn site will feature 60 furnished studio apartments. With services to help residents transition to and be successful in their housing, officials say LodgeHouse will assist up to 120 individuals find and maintain stable housing.
