HOMER, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – A suspect was taken into custody Sunday afternoon in Calhoun County after a destruction of property report resulted in a high speed chase and a stand off with officers.
Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to the 300 block of East Hamilton Street in Homer at about 1:27 p.m..
They say as a deputy arrived, he learned that the suspect had attempted to intentionally strike someone with his vehicle.
The deputy canvassed the area for the suspect vehicle and saw it fleeing the area at a high rate of speed heading east on M-60.
The deputy caught up with the suspect vehicle at an address in the 25000 block of M-60.
The Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the man who was from Homer refused to obey the deputies commands.
The suspect was held, still refusing to obey commands, until back up units arrived. The suspect was then taken into custody without further incident and lodged at the Calhoun County Jail for felonious assault, malicious destruction of property, and resisting and obstructing.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Albion Department of Public Safety.
