KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – This month, several organizations have been providing residents with safety tips around the Halloween Holiday, and the Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Office is no exception.
Sheriff Richard Fuller spoke with us last week regarding safety tips for costumes and preventing COVID-19.
On Wednesday morning, Fuller spoke with us again, providing additional safety tips.
“Watch out for the goblins and ghouls and little witches,” Fuller said. “Parents, I highly recommend that you go with your kids. Every year, children are struck by vehicles or injured in other ways. We want people to be safe, and we want them to have fun.”
Fuller says injuries can be avoided by having a higher visibility.
“Remember, if you have a light, it’s easier for cars to see you, so carry flashlights,” Fuller said.
In addition, Halloween takes place on a Sunday this year, meaning some areas might not be holding Trick-or-Treating on the actual Halloween day.
“Some places are celebrating on Saturday, so make sure you know what your township, city or village has dedicated as the day they’re going to celebrate,” Fuller said.
