KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – There are new updates in a shooting involving teenagers in Kalamazoo’s Vine Neighborhood Tuesday.
Previously, police were called to the intersection of Dutton Street and Pearl Street near El Sol Academy for a report of gunshots.
A group of teenagers had been walking in the area when a suspect wearing a mask approached them and opened fire, injuring two.
The victims were not students of El Sol, according to police.
Although it was initially reported that both victims were 13 years old, it was later confirmed that they were actually 15 and 17 years old.
In an update Wednesday, police said the 17-year-old has been discharged from medical care, while the 15-year-old is still in critical condition.
The suspect is said to have fled the scene heading northbound on foot. The search continues as of Wednesday.
He is described as a black male with a thin build, possibly in his late teens, standing about six feet tall with a dark complexion.
