KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The family of a man who was recently killed in an officer-involved shooting that also claimed the life of a Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputy has released a statement.
Officials with the Michigan State Police (MSP) are currently investigating the death of Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Proxmire, who was shot during a pursuit Saturday.

Police had been searching for 35-year-old Kyle Goidosik of Vicksburg, who had fled an attempted traffic stop earlier in the day, later being spotted in Galesburg at a gas station by Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputies.
Goidosik again fled from the deputies, initiating another chase.
During that time, Goidosik is said to have shot at, and struck, Deputy Ryan Proxmire, who ultimately succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.
Goidosik himself later crashed his car into a field and was killed during a shootout with other deputies.
Police say Goidosik was out on bond for drug and weapon charges that were issued in June, and was set to undergo a competency exam in July. He was scheduled to return to court in September for review.
On Tuesday, the parents of Goidosik, Gary and Kim, released a statement to the public, expressing their regret for what happened.
That statement can be viewed below:
“On behalf of our family, we want to express our deep sorrow over the death of Officer Ryan Proxmire and extend our condolences to his family and friends.
We also grieve the loss of Kyle, who for years was tormented by invasive and irrational thoughts.
This was another senseless and terrible tragedy that the American people have witnessed by one suffering from delusional and irrational thoughts.
It is my hope that we, as a community, can find a way to help those in need. We ask that the members of the media allow our family the privacy we need to grieve these tragic losses.
Thank you. — Gary and Kim Goidosik, parents of Kyle Goidosik”
