KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Michigan State Police (MSP) are investigating an officer-involved shooting that claimed the lives of both the suspect and a Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s Deputy over the weekend.
The suspect was identified Monday afternoon as 35-year-old Kyle Goidosik of Vicksburg.

MSP says Goidosik was initially contacted by the Portage Police Department during a traffic stop on August 14.
According to an update Monday afternoon from WWMT, Goidosik had been out on bond at the time of the shooting, and had been facing drug and weapons charges that were issued in June.
According to that same update, on Saturday, police attempted to pull him over for a registration violation.
Police say Goidosik fled that traffic stop and was later contacted by Kalamazoo County Sheriff deputies at a Shell Gas Station on 35th Street in Galesburg, which ultimately led to a pursuit.
During that pursuit, Deputy Ryan Proxmire was shot, which caused the patrol vehicle to go off the road. He was then found by a passerby who called for help.
Police say Goidosik eventually lost control of his vehicle and went off the road in a field near 44th Street and Q Avenue in Climax Township.
He again shot at deputies, who returned fire and killed him.
Deputy Proxmire was in critical condition as a result of his injuries, eventually succumbing to them on Sunday.
Michigan State Police say more details will be released while the investigation continues.
