KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Bronson Health Foundation’s Cancer Care Campaign far surpassed its original goal of raising $8 million dollars to elevate cancer care for patients across the region.
In March, the Foundation invited the community to join in building upon $9 million that had already been raised.
As the capital campaign comes to an end, officials say contributions from the community have now reached $10.3 million to support Bronson in delivering exceptional cancer care programs and services.
The funds raised are being used in a number of ways to support patients undergoing cancer treatment, including the following:
- Building the new Bronson Cancer Center in Kalamazoo that provides a patient-centered approach to outpatient care and many supportive services;
- Bringing cutting-edge radiation technologies and facility renovations to the Bronson Cancer Center in Battle Creek;
- Providing children and families with long-term mental health support with the hiring of a child and family psychologist at Bronson Children’s Hospital Pediatric Hematology and Oncology;
- Understanding health disparities within Bronson’s regional program in order to advance access and equitable solutions now, and in the future.
“For the community to come out and support this campaign in such a big way says so much,” vice president of development Terry Morrow said in a statement. “Cancer touches everyone, and this $10 million-plus investment tells those who are on a cancer journey – our friends, neighbors and family members – that they are not alone. And, it inspires our cancer care teams to continue to make care and treatment the best it can be.”
As the capital campaign comes to a close, Bronson will continue to accept donations to assist patients who require support for out-of-pocket costs that can devastate families, including medication and transportation to and from treatment.
