KALAMAZOO COUNTY, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Friday is the deadline to apply for an opening on the Kalamazoo County Commission representing District 2.
Normally it would take an election to pick commissioners, but when there is a resignation, state law permits the County board to pick a replacement for the

remainder of the term.
District 2 Commissioner Zac Bauer signed off at this week’s board meeting.
He is becoming the new Executive Director of the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), which would conflict with his county duties.
He says he is proud of the work they have done, such as pulling the county through the pandemic.
“Don’t lose sight of that,” Bauer said during his final comments. “I think Kalamazoo County did really well in comparison to other counties around us, and to the state as a whole.”
Administrator Tracee Moored says to qualify, applicants must live in District 2. At this time, Moored says that only two applications have been received.
The board is planning to hold interviews later this month, or early next month, depending on how many apply.
To apply, residents can send an email to dpsutt@kalcounty.com or return an application to the Kalamazoo County Administrative Services Office.
More information is listed below. Bauer’s term runs through next year.
