KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – The Road Commission of Kalamazoo County (RCKC) has a confirmed start date for the Sprinkle Road project between N Avenue/Kilgore Road and Milham Avenue, according to an official announcement Tuesday.
Elli Blonde of the Road Commission confirmed with WKZO that the work will begin next Monday, June 21.
The Commission says Sprinkle Road is one of the highest traffic volume roads on the county road system, which sees approximately 30,000 vehicles per day.
Readers should note that this average daily traffic count does not include the potential increase from the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) I-94 detour routes.
The public should expect to see an immediate impact on their travel with culvert replacements happening at Milham Avenue and Meredith Street.
These culverts run the width of the road, but will be done in partial phases to accommodate at least one lane of traffic being maintained both ways.
Staying Informed –
The RCKC developed a special notification on RCKC Connect that the public can subscribe to for the Sprinkle Road project specifically. Officials say this is the best way to stay updated on closures and changes.
Updates are best received via text message or email to view any potential attachments. Signing up is free and can be done on the RCKC website under the “Notify Me” tab at the top of the home screen.
Social media updates and weekly construction updates will take place; however, officials say the first line of communication will be this RCKC Connect notification system.
Tentative Completion –
This $3 million project is expected to be completed by the end of October, 2021.
However, as the Commission previously announced, there may be some delays due to global supply chain issues.
