NOTTAWA TOWNSHIP, MI (WNWN/WTVB) – Michigan State Police troopers are looking for a man who stole a woman’s purse from a vehicle in St. Joseph County after scaring the victim’s two children.
State Police say the larceny took place on Wednesday afternoon at about 5:00 p.m. while the victim was mowing a field on Nottawa Road near Wasepi Road.
Troopers say the woman had parked her vehicle which was occupied by her 13 and 11 year old sons at the edge of the field.
The suspect stopped his vehicle and approached the two children in the vehicle. The scared children fled the vehicle to alert their mother. The suspect then stole the victim’s purse from the vehicle.
The suspect is described as being in his 30s. He was wearing a white t-shirt, brown shorts and a black beret style hat. The suspect also had tattoos on his arms, neck, and face.
The suspect was said to be driving a small white passenger car with rust along the bottom, the vehicle was last seen fleeing south on Nottawa Road.
