MATTAWAN, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — One man was arrested and another is expected to be charged after a cocaine drug deal was intercepted by Van Buren County Sheriff’s deputies. FOX 17 reports that it happened at a fish hatchery in Mattawan on Tuesday.
Detectives say they had been investigating 31-year-old Herman Brooks of Kalamazoo for illegal drug activity. They set up a sting at the fish hatchery and made the arrest after he arrived to make a deal with a 43-year-old man who had arrived with his 2-year-old daughter in the car.
A search of Brook’s vehicle uncovered over a half-ounce of cocaine inside Brooks’ car. The other driver had a small amount of cocaine in his possession.
Brooks was arrested and Van Buren County prosecutors will be pursuing charges against the other man, whose name has not been released, at a later time.
