MARSHALL, MI (WKZO AM/FM) — According to a report published by WOOD TV Wednesday afternoon, the reason so many bus drivers are out in Marshall is due to COVID-19 exposure.
Superintendent Randy Davis told WOOD TV that the district would normally ask other districts for extra drivers, but right now, there isn’t enough flexibility under the pandemic.
He also said the district was unsure of whether busses would be operational next Monday. No other official updates have been made by the district at this time.
Residents can apply to be a substitute bus driver at this link.

A school district in Calhoun County will be going to virtual learning for the rest of the week, but parents are confused as to exactly why. Marshall Public Schools announced on their Facebook page that beginning today and through Friday, classes would be held virtually due to “absenteeism in our transportation department”.
It implies that there is a lack of bus drivers, but many are asking if it was COVID-19 related or not. As of this morning, there doesn’t appear to be any clarification from Marshall school officials.
Parents also said that the unexpected announcement, made late Tuesday afternoon, left them and their children unprepared for virtual learning as they hadn’t brought chrome books home with them. In fact, some parents say students have already turned in their virtual learning equipment for the year.
