KALAMAZOO, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Following the latest murder in Kalamazoo, residents in one northside Kalamazoo neighborhood say weekend partying is ruining their quality of life.
20-year-old Ladarious Jaheel Clay was killed and a passenger wounded in the leg around 4 a.m. Saturday at Florence and Westnedge, when their SUV was fired upon from another vehicle.
Residents on Ada and Florence Street say it’s just the latest incident in ongoing all-night mobile parties, a rotting publicly owned housing complex and the perceived inability of the city to do anything about it.
Commissioners thanked them for bringing their complaints forward.
Mayor Dave Anderson says they have made some inroads to reduce the homicide rate this year and to deter the late-night roving partiers.
No arrests have been made in the latest killing. Kalamazoo Public Safety says its chasing down leads and are asking for information from the public to help them identify the shooter.
