LANSING (WKZO AM/FM) – As the open enrollment season for Medicare nears the end, state officials are urging seniors to be wary of scams involving people posing as Medicare workers in order to get personal information.
People who call and say they are Medicare officials and want the target’s Medicare ID number or other information only want the data to make changes in the victim’s plan or use it for other illegal activities.
Medicare will never call and ask you for that information, according to the state Attorney General’s office.
If you or a loved one has been the victim of Medicare fraud, contact the Michigan Department of Insurance and Financial Services online or by calling 877-999-6442 to file a complaint.
