UPDATE: The Battle Creek Police Department (BCPD) announced Monday that a feud between two people is believed to have led to a shooting last Friday.
Police were sent to a report of shots fired in the area of the Walmart store on Beckley Road at 9:42 p.m. They discovered that a 21-year-old male was shot several times in the parking lot of Steak ‘n Shake located at 5990 Beckley Road.
The shooting victim was transported to Bronson Kalamazoo Hospital and is in stable condition.
Monday, WWMT reported that police are still searching for the suspect in this shooting. Battle Creek Detective Sgt. Joel Case provided the following statement to WWMT:
“This wasn’t a random thing where somebody’s just sitting in the parking lot, and somebody just shows up and shoots into a vehicle or something like that. This was believed to be a beef between two individuals that were having an altercation between each other, and one of them ultimately ends up producing a weapon, and ends up shooting that person, so you know the general public should not be alarmed or concerned that this is something that’s likely going to happen again.”
Nobody else was injured in this shooting. Anyone with information is asked to contact BCPD at 269-781-0911 or Silent Observer at 269-964-3888.
